...Aww... This sounds like a really lovely memory!!

Everyone hates football in our house (including Dad) so I was quite surprised at Uni when even girls watched it! (at least some of them, at least the ones who admired the sexy football players or hoped to meet any sexy fans at the matches in the cafeteria-??!) I never did 'get' football though.. (until trying to play it myself at a kungfu practise, that didn't last very long either lol)

That said, I forgive you for dissing Slovenia! ;) I hope you do cheer for us too!! :)

And yeah, starting a new tradition with kids sounds fun! (We watched skiing with kids of our street here, or figure skating with Grams!)Laylahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00832545657562957725noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29284826.post-48395361447581398542010-06-13T17:07:06.691+01:002010-06-13T17:07:06.691+01:00You described it all so well, Melanie. I really must apologise to you all, I thought I was the only one thinking like this and remembering the charts, the huge posters, the England flag your Mum bought me. I remember sitting, curled up tensely on my armchair as your Mum lay on the carpet at my feet. I remember half-time, being dispatched to the kitchen to make coffee for us all. And, yes, I do remember pacing the hall at the end of matches, unable to face the television. Like you, I would give anything to have her back to share it all again with her.Bill of Ballaughnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29284826.post-42851057517157641872010-06-12T15:00:12.102+01:002010-06-12T15:00:12.102+01:00(Mel's middle sister) I've been thinking o...(Mel's middle sister) I've been thinking of mum loads with the World Cup build up these last few weeks. I remember the three of us kids being banished from the living room on match nights for fear of distraction. Mum and dad would palm us off with crisps, sweets and pop so we were put of their hair for the 2 hours or so. I remember playing on the stairs with you and Lindsey when we lived in the council house on the estate in Skelmersdale and hearing the gasps, groans and cheers from the living room. And the huge charts she used to fill in, yes I remember.Yellowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05975849028363084985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29284826.post-80121753296190987292010-06-12T12:18:24.381+01:002010-06-12T12:18:24.381+01:00This brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my thr...This brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat. Although I understand how you feel, can you now make it a new tradition to watch it with your children, so that they can have the same sort of happy memories later on.
Love the new design for the blog. xxxFranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08117681021989984923noreply@blogger.com
