What the hell is a rod anyway?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13358765787567394445noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29284826.post-60816690378214520462006-11-24T08:16:00.000+00:002006-11-24T08:16:00.000+00:00I don't know. I haven't measured and I'm not good ...I don't know. I haven't measured and I'm not good at estimating by eye. Actually that's not true. I can pour very close to a pint of milk (or a half pint, or whatever) by eye. I can estimate an ounce of butter, four ounces of flour, anything like that. If I ask the grocer for a pound of apples and he gives me too few I know just by holding the bag. And I can look at a length of cotton fabric and see if it's a yard or two yards, or a fat quarter yard to within a thread or two. But when I passed my driving test I dutifully memorised all the stopping distances without having the least clue what 250 yards actually looks like.Melanie Rimmerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05871992146568559100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29284826.post-40632433679293135342006-11-24T02:15:00.000+00:002006-11-24T02:15:00.000+00:00Thats great...is it a 10 rod plot now?Thats great...is it a 10 rod plot now?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29284826.post-66267310289759447302006-11-24T00:12:00.000+00:002006-11-24T00:12:00.000+00:00...and I slave all day digging out and then backfi......and I slave all day digging out and then backfilling and levelling, only to be asked "What have you been doing all day?"<br /><br />Well done Mel, that's the best news I've heard all day!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13358765787567394445noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29284826.post-48435526216044126952006-11-23T17:22:00.000+00:002006-11-23T17:22:00.000+00:00I to chuckle upon reading "I can't wait for Ed to ...I to chuckle upon reading "I can't wait for Ed to get home (so I can ask him to help me dig it all)." That's cutting right to the heart of it - he's valued because he can dig! <br />I get the same from my Other Half except that she comes home wanting to see what I've been digging. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
