Allotment Dreams

I went to the allotment yesterday. I didn't do anything exciting, just weeding. I weeded the onions, garlic and broad bean beds. The crops aren't showing above the surface of the ground yet, but it's important whilst weeding to remember they're just under the surface, and not to disturb them. Ed cleared a new bed. I'll put some more beans in there soon.

It's seed catalogue time of year. I sat in bed last night and read the Chiltern Seeds veg catalogue and the Dobies catalogue cover to cover. Dobies has better pictures but Chiltern Seeds was funnier. The trouble is, I now want far more seeds than I have the space to raise (or the time to tend or the mouths to feed). Then I fell asleep and had weird dreams about an allotment that went from horizon to horizon and I was running round trying to keep it all watered and weeded like some demented Playstation game.

Hiya
I've got to the "poring over seed catalogues in bed" time of year too! Very comforting when summer's over. Have you tried the Chase Organics one? It always comes tucked inside my Organic Way magazine (from the people who used to be the Henry Doubleday Research association and now I've forgotten their new name. Silly me.
I enjoy your blog, have you ever spotted mine? Also an allotment holder and as green as I can be!
best wishes

The HDRA are now the Soil Association, Nicky. No, I hadn't spotted your blog before, but now I'm aware of it I've added it to my blogroll. If you could manage a link back to Bean Sprouts, old bean, I'd deem it a favour. I'm envious of your plums.
