Meadow Brown

meadow brown butterflyWe took the kids up to Lyme Park and whilst they were running around bellowing I took some photos. They all came out rather under-exposed, so I'm going to have to figure out how to fix that. But apart from that I was quite pleased with this one of a meadow brown butterfly drinking nectar from a thistle.

Cool pic! Will need to show DS in the morning. An old Scottish aunt was telling him last night about thistles (boy that word sounds weird the more you say it when repeating to a 5yr old what that new strange sounding word is). I hadn't gotten around to showing him what one looks like yet.

I have thistle's in the front drive- never seen a butterfly on the flowers though- Must be those british butterflies!

Picasa (free from google) allows you to lighten your photos and manipulate them in other way (crop, rotate etc). The great part is that it keeps the original and records the changes. So you haven't changed the original.
