... visible from my kitchen window during a short period yesterday:
- Crows
- Blue tits
- Great spotted woodpecker
- Lots of gulls (dunno which kind, I don't do gulls)
- Woodpigeons
- Six magpies (six for gold - yay!)
- Great Tit
- Starlings
- A heron
- A robin
You can tell it was only a short period as sparrows aren't on the list, and you can't look out of any window in our house for long without seeing a sparrow.

Has hubby added any humerous sightings to your list yet?
What, you mean like when we were keeping a list of birds and after "robin" he wrote "batman"?
Yup, stuff like that
Which way round are woodpeckers? We have green ones that are called Yaffles locally (because they make a yaffly laughing sound) and untidy black and white ones with a red splodge.
My woodpecker was the black and white and red one. A great spotted woodpecker like this:

I haven't seen a green woodpecker round here, but they're supposed to be fairly common all over Britain.
That's groovy, anonymous, now I understand why the woodpecker on Bagpuss is called Professor Yaffle. I never knew it meant anything in itself til now.
