Make A Little Birdhouse In Your Soul

I've been watching a bluetit carrying nesting materials to the birdhouse in our back garden. Hopefully he'll attract a mate and raise a clutch of chicks like last year. Here are some images I found when searching for "recycled bird house". Each image is a link to the page it comes from. Some of them have instructions how to make the item, some are ready-made items for sale, and some are out-of-date and no longer for sale, but I thought they could be inspiration for your own recycled bird house projects.edible bird house

If you make a recycled bird house, please email me a photo, and say whether you're happy for your image to be used on the blog.

You've reminded me of a link I found last year & which is on my 'to try out' list - paper mache bird houses

I have emailed you a picture of our unusual bird box, won as a raffle prize, and now home to blue-tits. it is great to watch the comings and goings, isn't it?

Great idea. I will wander around our place to find something to recycle as a birdhouse.

Did you know that, according to some naturalist on RTÉ 1 the other day, you are supposed to clean out and fumigate your nesting boxes every year as the old nests contain mites and fungi that can kill the young chicks?

Hi,

It's not common here in Portugal for the "average" person to have a bird house.
I guess that only those who create birds, have them.
What I know if from TV and it seems to me that in some countries people have bird houses so that they can enjoy the company of birds, namely when they migrate near their places.
These houses sure can give some "spice" to a neighbourhood.

Kind regards,

José
